“When you focus on problems, you’ll have more problems.
When you focus on POSSIBILITIES, you’ll have more OPPORTUNITIES.”
As I packed my suitcase to return home from a wonderful week at the beach- a week full of sunshine, sand, the most beautiful turquoise water, the best food I have ever had on a vacation- I started thinking about my “To Do List” and “Self-Improvement Goals” for when I returned home. I started feeling the adrenaline that overcomes me when I get excited to start a new schedule, a new season, a new journey- whatever “new” becomes a part of me. After taking a week to relax, unwind and refresh, I automatically shifted back to organizing my life in my mind again BEFORE I even boarded the plane.
You see, our mindset is an area that needs rested, re-set and trained. As we begin the Healthy Harrison Health Games- The Encore, we will be training our minds to be strong, positive, and healthy. This will be the MIND portion of MIND, MOVE & EAT. What I love about the MIND, MOVE, EAT of Healthy Harrison is that each component works together as a team to help each person transform completely. And you will learn that I LOVE TEAMWORK!
To begin, I want you to ask yourself a question. WHAT IS YOUR WHY? What is your WHY to joining The Encore? You may be thinking to yourself “Why is this important?”. Honestly, it is probably the most important question you need to ask yourself if you want to have success on this journey or any journey. Having a WHY is just the beginning. And your WHY may be different from someone else’s WHY, and that is great because this is YOUR journey! Your age, lifestyle, health, family history, just to name a few, can contribute to your WHY.
So why is it important to have a WHY? I personally will answer this with one word- MOTIVATION. Our WHY becomes our motivation when we find ourselves struggling. Our WHY will help us make better choices and decisions when it comes to our health. Our WHY will help us push through when we are having a bad day. It has been proven repeatedly that having a WHY helps yield a better outcome, more positive results, more progress. And our WHY will become a part of who we are when we begin other journeys in life.
That WHY will also be a starting point to learning something about ourselves. Sounds deep, right? But if you think about it, sometimes we do things without really thinking it through and then we quit. We just stop. But when we have a WHY, or a purpose, we are more likely to continue until we complete the task at hand. Having that WHY will start to change our thought process for the better.
~ HAVING THAT WHY MAKES IT HARDER TO QUIT OR MAKE EXCUSES! ~
As you start this journey and we work together to develop our MINDSET, take some time today to think about your WHY. Grab a journal, a notebook or a piece of paper and jot down some thoughts as to WHY you are beginning or continuing this incredible opportunity to do something for YOU! Be honest with yourself, hard to do, but seriously be honest with yourself and dig deep. Think about the life you want to have, the life you deserve to have, and find your WHY. Put that WHY somewhere you can remind yourself when you are lacking some motivation. Let your friends and family know your WHY and stand firm by it. And let that WHY propel you into this journey you are starting and let the transformation begin!
